AMBER's Children arrow A Child like Eleanor
A Child like Eleanor PDF Print E-mail
For the past two years, The AMBER Trust has supported Eleanor and her
brother, Joseph,
who both have a rare eye condition, called Achromatopsia.
This means that they cannot see colours, things appear blurry, and bright
light is painful. But eleven-year-old Eleanor's world is completely
immersed in music.

She has an amazing musical ear
and since finding music, her self-
   confidence has soared. Eleanor
enjoys nothing more than to perform
   in front of an audience.

The AMBER Music Awards enable her
to attend the Royal Welsh College of
Music and Drama, where she studies
the piano and clarinet and takes
   singing lessons. Eleanor is making
   great progress.Her father, Gareth,
says that Eleanor "comes alive" in
   the atmosphere of the college.

One of Eleanor's teachers says:
“Eleanor is an absolute pleasure
to teach - a positive, enthusiastic
and interested student with
clear potential”.

How the Awards have helped

Eleanor letter

An
AMBER Music Award has allowed Eleanor and her brother Joseph to access specialist music lessons and develop their passion and talent. Money donated to AMBER helps to pay for Eleanor’s lessons and instruments.
Through The AMBER Music Awards, children like her are given grants to continue their enthusiasm for music so that they can reach their full potential.

Eleanor and Joseph’s father, Gareth
“I cannot fully express my gratitude to The AMBER Trust for making
it possible for my children to pursue their musical ambitions. It has
truly changed their lives. Thanks to the Trust, Eleanor and Joseph
now receive first-class tuition, and have a clear purpose and road
ahead. Thank you again.”
