Making Tracks hits the headlines
On December 28th, Richard Kay wrote this article in the Daily Mail: 'Should the Duchess of Cornwall need respite from the claustrophobic atmosphere at Sandringham, she might find solace in a poignant CD by Derek Paravicini, nephew of her former husband Andrew Parker Bowles.
Pianist Derek's talent is all the more unique given that he was born blind and has learning difficulties.
Derek, 28, collaborated with painter Silvy Weatherall, sister-in-law of the Earl of Strathmore.
'Derek is a phenomenon and we have an incredible rapport,' she says.
Silvy, 40, was inspired to make the album for her friend Samantha, who lost her baby Fred at 28 weeks.
They have raised £6,000 for Cork Neonatal Unit, where Fred was treated, and The AMBER Trust, a music charity for blind children.
'It's unusual to hear myself sing on a CD, especially when I call my mother and she says: "Hold on, Silvy, I'll have to turn you down first."' |
