Any donation, large or small, will a huge difference to the lives of the musically gifted blind or partially sighted children, we support, such as Grace (below). A child like Grace Grace is 11 years old, registered blind, has low muscle tone and the two halves of her brain are not joined together properly. However, she is not only full of joy, she is also exceptionally talented and bright. Grace has perfect pitch and, as well as singing, she composes songs with remarkable lyrics, plays the drums and keyboard. She is able to play two tunes at the same time on her keyboard - one with her left hand, the other with her right. The Braille music tuition that The AMBER Trust has been able to offer her has enabled her to come joint-first in a Braille music competition. There is no doubt that she is a star in the making and with AMBER’s help she has a better, brighter future. Music is Grace’s life.
Grace’s mother Clair says: “I don’t think Grace would be as cheery and as determined without her music. I don’t think anybody can understand that when you have a visual impairment how important it is to have something that you are good at and that other people can appreciate. The fact that AMBER helps us means Grace can be integrated into things she normally wouldn’t be able to do and she can use a skill that makes her more socially accepted.” What your money pays for £10 pays for a set of drumsticks
