JosephThe AMBER Trust was set up especially to help blind or partially sighted children – including those with additional disabilities – to access and enjoy music. AMBER knows how important music is to these children:
it is not only a source of great pleasure,
it also encourages learning, boosts their
confidence and helps to develop each
child's self-expression and communication,
opening up a world of independence and
hope for the future.

For AMBER's children, music is not just a pastime – it’s a lifeline.

Lacey playing the fluteAMBER's vital work is needed more than ever today, as over half the families in the UK with a disabled child live in real poverty. This means that many of the 24,000 blind or partially sighted children who have a real flair for music cannot afford to buy a musical instrument or have the lessons from which they would benefit so much. In order to address this, we have set up The AMBER Music Awards programme, which has already made a significant difference to the lives of many blind or partially sighted children.
