Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to – Board of Trustees through the Chair
Location – Flexibility to work remotely with at least one day per week in SW London office
Hours – 25 – 30 hours per week TBA with candidate
Contract – Permanent
Salary range – £50 – £55K pro-rata (depending on experience)

An inspirational charity is seeking an inspirational CEO. The Amber Trust is a unique charity, dedicated to funding music opportunities for blind and partially sighted children and young people.

At The Amber Trust, we believe that visual impairment and other disabilities should not prevent children and young people accessing appropriate musical opportunities.

The Amber Trust was founded in 1995 and has grown to become the only UK-wide charity dedicated to supporting visually impaired children with their musical development and education. We aim to enhance the lives of as many of the 25,000 visually impaired children in the UK as possible through music, and to promote high quality music provision for them.

The Amber Trust has an annual income of around £300K with which it provides music services or financial support to over 500 beneficiaries, and free resources to thousands of others. We employ a small administrative team and a UK-wide network of practitioners who support us in delivering music lessons, music awards, concerts, workshops, resources and research.

This is an exciting leadership role providing challenge and opportunities for professional growth for the right candidate. The Trustees are seeking a leader to build on the Charity’s success to date and take The Amber Trust to the next level as a small to medium-sized charity. The CEO will help us to consolidate our services, refresh and diversify our sources of funding and encourage similar initiatives in other countries.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proven excellence in the following areas:

  • Leadership within an organisation in the Third Sector
  • Management experience in at least two organisations
  • Fundraising and strategic development of a charity
  • High calibre communication skills, with the ability to talk with passion and clarity about the benefits of The Amber Trusts work
  • Forging partnerships with external organisations and providers
