The Amber Trust continues to encourage blind children to have a go at learning a musical instrument. In fact, we now offer the opportunity for a taster term of music lessons and the opportunity for further support if things go well.
One recent success story is Christopher who has responded remarkably well to a taster term of piano lessons. Without vision, 15 year old Christopher finds it difficult to socialise with his peers. His teacher at Fairfield High School in Bristol has introduced him to The Beatles and Adele songs and says that he is particularly sensitive to the emotional effect of different chord changes. Christopher tells us he has found something he enjoys that can give him valuable skills such as better dexterity and the lessons allow him to develop a skill to impress others.
Well done Christopher!
