Donating your time and energy are the most important gifts you can give to raise funds and help transform the lives of children we support. There are lots of different ways you can get involved. In the past, Amber’s supporters have organised their own special events or they have donated their sponsorship money to Amber.
Holding your own event or being sponsored to do something on your own can be a rewarding way to raise money. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Sporty Charity Challenges
Competing in a run, a marathon, a swimming or a cycling event, either on your own or with a group of friends, is a great way to get involved. You could also organise a track and field day, a golf day, a cricket or tennis match, or even a clay pigeon shooting competition.
Musical supporters can hold their own music events, such as a jazz evening or a concert, a singing or karaoke competition, or you could go carol singing.
Quizes and Games
Hold a pub quiz or general knowledge tournament, or play bingo or poker. Another good way to raise funds is to organize a bridge or Scrabble evening.
Racing to the end of the Earth for Amber
Rachel Andrews, who raised an amazing £3,000 for the charity, is one of our most inspiring and pioneering fundraisers. She took part in a gruelling race to the South Pole. Pulling a 150 lb sled for 45 days, she skied 370 nautical miles across the Antarctic Plateau in temperatures as low as -50º.
As music was Rachel’s constant and invaluable companion, she asked Amber’s children to choose some of their favourite pieces for her to listen to as she trudged across the snow. ‘I Can See for Miles’, ‘Never Give Up’ and ‘For Once in My Life’ were just three of the many songs they selected.
